Contraindication means – A symptom or condition that would deem someone unsuitable for treatment in the interest of their personal health, safety and wellbeing.
Here’s a full list of total contraindications. This means I cannot perform the treatment if you fall under any of the following:
· Under 18 years old
· Pregnant or breastfeeding
· Recent surgery in the treatment area
· Blood-borne viruses
· Antabuse (alcohol dependency)
· Anaemia
· Allergy to pigments
· Chemotherapy
· Epilepsy/seizures
· Haemophilia
· Kidney disease
· Liver disease
· Lupus
· Psoriasis or eczema on the treatment area
· Rheumatic fever
· Stroke
· Tuberculosis
There are also restrictive contraindications to consider which means, I can perform the treatment but under certain circumstances. For example the condition may be temporary; once the condition has passed or been treated, I may be able to continue with the treatment.
Restrictive contraindications include:
· Injectables such as botox/fillers
· Inflamed skin disorders such as dermatitis
· Medication causing a thinning or inflammation to the skin e.g steroids/retinol
· Medium or deep chemical peels
· Products containing AHA
· Recent dermabrasion
· Cold sores
· Infectious skin
