What is dermaplaning + what are the benefits

Updated: Nov 21, 2020

Dermaplaning is a safe, simple and effective method of exfoliating the skin, removing dead cells from the top layer of the skin, and also the fine vellus hairs (known as peach fuzz).

Dermaplaning exfoliates the facial skin using a sterile, surgical scalpel held at a 45 degree angle.

Dermaplaning is sometimes called facial shaving but there is a lot more to it, and unlike dermabrasion, which it is often confused with, it is far quicker and has few to no adverse effects.

Dermaplaning’s purpose is to give your skin an immediate exfoliation for a radiant glow, dewy skin, faster cell turnover, and a smoother texture. It also allows any products you apply after to penetrate deeper.  This means that makeup can be applied with far more ease and precision, and overall has a far better finish.

Clients having this done are typically looking for skin rejuvenation, reduction in the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles.

Dermaplaning is a painless procedure with no down time. Clients find it very relaxing with immediate results.

When dermaplaning is teamed with a glycolic peel it can add further benefits such as;

+ removes further dead skin cells and promotes new cell to come to the surface

+ removes impurities and clears clogged pores

+ immediate effect with zero down time

+ safe for sensitive skin

+ non-abrasive

A soothing algae facial mask can help with;

+ deeper hydration to soothe redness

+ calms the skin for irritated and sensitive skin

+ revitalises tired and dull skin

+ lightens skin discolourations

+ restores glowing, smooth skin

Blackhead removal using extraction tools and hands:

+ dislodging the buildup caused by oil and dirt

+ don't risk scarring when picking yourself

+ Clearing the skin of trapped bacteria

+ A clay face mask is used to help draw out oils and toxins, which helps open the pores
